We’ve compiled the Best Characters & latest Tier Lists for “Honkai: Star Rail” in this article, we hope it can help you decide which characters are the best to reroll for and use, the Tier List is currently based on CBT3.
Tier Definitions
SS Tier – Overpowered Characters that are useful in almost any situation
S Tier – Very Powerful Characters that usually excel in specific or multiple situations
A Tier – Good Characters that can add to other characters and contribute to overall team performance
B Tier – Adequate characters that can be used on an interim basis, should be replaced with better ones as soon as you get them
C Tier – Almost useless characters, do not use them unless you have to
Tier SS
- Seele (5★) – Quantum / The Hunt – Best Single Target DPS in the game. Great synergy with Bronya.
- Welt (5★) – Imaginary / The Nihility – One of only a handful of Imaginary characters in the game currently. He can slow down enemies. Great for control and works well with Dan Heng.
- Bronya (5★) – Wind / The Harmony – One of the best characters, and best buffer. She can give turn priority to allies, and boost their ATK.
- Silver Wolf (5★) – Quantum / The Nihility – Best character in the game currently. She can apply weaknesses to enemies based on your team’s elements. With E6, she’s even more OP.
Seele
Rarity: 5✦
Path: The Hunt
Element: Quantum
Sex: Female
Affiliation: Wildfire
Seele is a five-star Tier SS Quantum primary damage dealer, she has extremely high single target DPS, and her core talent “Appear Again” allows her to gain a buff on defeating an enemy, and receives an extra action and boosts in her stats.

Welt
Rarity: 5✦
Path: The Nihility
Element: Imaginary
Real Name: Joachim Nokianvirtanen
Sex: Male
Affiliation: Astral Express, Anti-Entropy
Welt‘s attack during accelerated state causes extra damage, his core responsibility in most teams is his utility. He excels at imprisoning and slowing enemies, often incapacitating them and allowing other teammates to come in and finish the job. As one of two imaginary damage characters in the current roster, he’s also extremely valuable when facing off against enemies with imaginary damage weakness.

Bronya

Path: The Harmony
Element: Wind
Real Name: Bronya Rand
Sex: Female
Affiliation: Silvermane Guards
Bronya is a support character who applies buffs and removes debuffs from her team. She deals very little damage herself, but her skills make her a valuable enabler capable of pushing her allies through to victory. As such, she’s very flexible and can be an asset to most team comps.

Silver Wolf
Rarity: 5✦
Path: The Nihility
Element: Quantum
Sex: Female
Affiliation: Stellaron Hunters
Silver Wolf is a high-impact damage dealer who specializes in taking down single targets. She lacks any real AoE potential, but with her amazing debuff ‘bugs’, she’s an asset to any team due to her ability to apply DoT and impose weaknesses on her targets.

Tier S
- Himeko (5★) – Fire / The Erudition – AoE Specialist, exceptional character for farming. Decent for the endgame.
- Kafka (5★) – Lightning / The Nihility – One of the best DPS units in the game. Strong at almost everything. Even better when paired with Sampo.
- Gepard (5★) – Ice / The Preservation – Great Ultimate that provides a shield for all allies. However, March 7th does the same thing but is obtainable for free.
- Bailu (5★) – Lightning / The Abundance – Best healer for early game. She can revive allies.
- Natasha (5★) – Physical / The Abundance – Great low-budget healer for F2P. She can remove a debuff from an ally.
- Qingque (4★) – Quantum / The Erudition – Decent AoE DPS Character for F2P.
- Dan Heng (4★) – Wind / The Hunt – Best 4-Star Single Target DPS unit for F2P. Pairs well with Welt due to the speed penalty.
- Jing Yuan (5★) – Lightning / The Erudition – The king of AoE damage. Great for farming, and useful for bosses.
Himeko
Rarity: 5✦
Path: The Erudition
Element: Fire
Sex: Female
Affiliation: Astral Express
Himeko is a powerful damage dealer, capable of taking down large groups of enemies with her potent AoE and blast attacks, and her strong burn DoT. Her fire damage is the real star of the show here, and using her technique to initiate battles pushes it even further, making her a real fiery force to be reckoned with.

Kafka

Element: Lightning

Kafka is a lightning character skilled in the use of knives, swords, and light guns, and she specializes in AoE attacks that can inflict enemies with shock.

Gepard
Rarity: 5✦
Path: The Preservation
Element: Ice
Real Name: Gepard Landau
Sex: Male
Affiliation: Silvermane Guards
Gepard is able to dish out enormous ice damage and has the ability to freeze enemies, his ultimate also offers an extremely strong shield to help his allies get out of all manner of sticky situations, and his passive allows him to hop back into the game for a last stand when he’s struck with a killing blow, which makes him a great tank and sub-DPS hero.

Tier A
- Yanqing (5★) – Ice / The Hunt – He doesn’t need gear to shine. Massive crit self-buff. Great for endgame.
- Clara (4★) – Physical / The Destruction – Her kit revolves around Svarog’s Counter. She can tank with her Ultimate and deal decent damage with the counters. Very strong in a simulated universe.
- Asta (4★) – Fire / The Harmony – One of the best 4-star units for F2P. She can buff allies with speed and ATK.
- Herta (4★) – Ice / The Erudition – Strong farming character. Not as good as Himeko though. Not great at endgame due to low DPS and lack of utility.
- Trailblazer – Fire (5★) – Fire / The Preservation – Very good unit for F2P. Great for the campaign. Strong tank that can protect his entire team.
- Tingyun (4★) – Lightning / The Harmony – Very situational unit. A bit like a budget version of Bronya. She can boost an ally’s ATK & Energy.
Tier B
- March 7th (4★) – Ice / The Preservation – She is a great character for F2P. Does the same thing as Gepard.
- Arlan (4★) – Lightning / The Destruction – Arlan can be useful, provided that he has decent support. He needs to be of low health to do high damage, and that requires backup units behind him.
- Pela (4★) – Ice / The Nihility – Mainly useful for her DEF shred. Not really useful for early game, but might be better at endgame. Pairs well with Jing Yuan.
- Trailblazer – Physical (5★) – Physical / The Destruction – Great versatile unit for F2P. He has a balanced kit that offers decent Single Target & AoE DPS, as well as utility.
Tier C
- Hook (4★) – Fire / The Destruction – An overall decent unit. Useful for the simulated universe and could possibly replace Himeko on some bosses.
- Sushang (4★) – Physical / The Hunt – Great Single Target DPS, high base speed, can break shields easily.
- Sampo (4★) – Wind / The Nihility – He isn’t bad at all, but a bit too dependent on other characters such as Kafka.
- Serval (4★) – Lightning / The Erudition – A budget Jing Yuan, she can deal strong AoE DPS. Great unit for F2P and the early campaign. Also useful for some bosses in Simulated Universe.
